The museum constantly displays part of its collection, including works by major creators such as Aloïse Corbaz, Augustin Lesage, Marguerite Sirvins, and Auguste Walla. The Art Brut pieces are created by self-taught artists—solitary individuals living on the margins of society, patients of psychiatric hospitals—who produce work apart from tradition and artistic trends, without concern for public criticism or the gaze of others.

The World of Armand Schulthess
Upcoming

The World of Armand Schulthess

In the 1950s, Swiss artist Armand Schulthess (1901–1972) set about transforming a plot of nearly 18,000 square metres in the Canton of Ticino into an extraordinary, multifaceted, open-air environment. Paths, walkways, bridges and steps criss-crossed the site, interspersed with an array of objects and suspended installations – many hanging from trees. Schulthess covered salvaged pieces and sheets of metal with engraved inscriptions reflecting his encyclopaedic knowledge, particularly of science and philosophy.
