Accessibility

The visits and workshops are designed for a diverse audience: people with a physical disability or an intellectual impairment, audiences prevented from taking part in cultural life. Specific visits are offered in particular for blind or low‑vision individuals, or those living with Alzheimer’s disease. Non‑French‑speaking audiences also benefit from mediation adapted to their language level. Everyone can thus explore Art Brut at their own pace, through multisensory, historical, artistic or poetic approaches.

The Collection of Art Brut develops programs for audiences with specific needs

To ensure an inclusive and accessible experience for all, the Collection of Art Brut offers various measures specially designed for audiences with specific needs. Guided tours are also organized for groups, in collaboration with professionals from the disability sector.

For blind and visually impaired people

Art Brut to listen

In collaboration with L'art d'inclure, audio descriptions are available on the website or directly in the museum via a QR code placed near the relevant works. To use them, you need a phone capable of reading QR codes, an internet or Wi‑Fi connection, and a set of headphones. For your comfort and that of other visitors, we recommend bringing your own headphones or earphones to enjoy optimal sound quality. At the museum, the reception staff will be happy to offer assistance to guide you in discovering the works. A braille support is also available for loan at the reception desk; feel free to borrow it.

For people living with Alzheimer's disease

For people living with Alzheimer’s disease and their families, Alzheimer Vaud, in collaboration with the museum’s cultural mediation team, organizes visits in small groups that encourage interaction, sensory stimulation, and sociability.
The museum also offers, upon request, a sensory kit to experience the collection in a different way.

The museum provides folding seats. Its floors are accessible by stairs and elevator.
The museum has a cloakroom and a luggage storage.

Upon request, a wheelchair and a stroller are available at the reception.
Upon request, descriptive tours are organized in the permanent and temporary exhibitions.
Guide dogs are allowed in the exhibition rooms.
