Lucienne Peiry to lecture on Judith Scott, Paris, 29 June 2013
The psychoanalyst Lise Maurer has invited Lucienne Peiry to give a lecture on Art Brut creator Judith Scott at the seminar "De la trinité en déroute au sinthome" (from the thwarted Trinity to the symptom) organized by the Grec (research and clinical studies group). The textile works of Judith Scott are endowed with an intense power of expression: they resemble giant multicolored cocoons and are also reminiscent of voodoo dolls. Above all, they bring to mind magical fetishes and seem to hold a special connection to life and death. These sculptures conceal a secret that their author always took great care to hide.
At the end of the lecture, there will be a screening of a documentary film (36 minutes) on Judith Scott made by Philippe Lespinasse and produced by the Collection de l'Art Brut.
