L'Art Brut at the 2014 Festival of Art History
Pascale Marini and Anic Zanzi, curators at the Collection de l'Art Brut,
will participate in the next edition of the History of Art Festival,
scheduled for May 30 + June 1 at Fontainebleau.
Pascale Marini: History of the Collection de l’Art Brut, in Lausanne (Switzerland)
Since the Collection de l'Art Brut opened in Lausanne in 1976, thanks to funds that Jean Dubuffet set about raising from 1945, Art Brut has enjoyed the growing fascination of an ever greater public. The general exhibition at the last Venice Biennial featured a combination of Art Brut and contemporary art. One wonders, from Dubuffet to Venice, how did these creators find their place in the sun?
Anic Zanzi: 1976-2014: How did the Collection de l’Art Brut develop?
Modestly incorporating some 5000 works at its opening in 1976, today the Collection de l'Art Brut boasts over 60,000 pieces. During this 40-year lapse of time, the institution's choices and acquisition policies have evolved within a context of considerable and, especially over the last few years, ongoing change.
May 31, 2014 - 4 to 5 pm
Mairie de Fontainebleau - Salon d'Honneur (80 seats)
