The twenty-five creators presented in this exhibition—whether savant or in-the-rough, self-taught or officially schooled—all share the fact of having followed, often nigh to obsessively, a highly personal path. As such, each created a singular world cut off from the fashions and ideologies of the day and born instead of the often darkest regions of their true nature.
