This is the first book reproducing the 70-meter long wall on which Oreste Fernando Nannetti (1927-1994) carved at the Volterra Psychiatric Hospital (I): unfolding into over 7 meters, the photographic panorama presents his carved writings in their entirety, together with a full transcription and translation thereof.

Enriched by some one hundred color illustrations, the publication presents essays by the writer Antonio Tabucci , the anthropologist Anne Lovell, the photographer and filmmaker  Pier Nello Manoni, the anthropologist Ilario Rossi, the art historian and director of the Collection de l'Art Brut Lucienne Peiry, the linguist Vincent Capt, and the art historian Jessica Schupbach.
